Thomas J. Hinchman, Sensei

As far back as I can remember I have always been athletic as well as competitive. I was 10yrs old when I started with baseball, which was my favorite pastime. TThere was nothing better in the world to me than striking someone out or hearing my bat make contact with a fast pitch baseball. Within this time period I has a friend that played baseball with me who was also enrolled in the local Kenpo karate program,, he liked it so much that he kept bothering me about coming in and trying out a class. It was shortly after my introduction to Kenpo that my life changed, I had found something that I loved more than baseball! It seemed that a large part of my time was devoted to becoming better and better and developing myself into a true Kenpo practitioner. As some years passed I had the privilege of studying some fantastic arts as well as some systems. Some of those include: Aikido, May Thai, American Kenpo, and last but not least Crutchfield’s Hawaiian Kenpo Ju Jutsu.
I met Crutchfield Shihan in 1993, where we both attended the same high school. After meeting, I also found that he was also a martial arts practitioner and instructor at a school in the local area. In no time at all, we became friends and I soon began to assist him as an instructor. This same year Crutchfield Shihan not only graduated from high school but he also opened his first school in Modesto, CA. At this time I helped train, teach, and coach many people at the school. After several years Crutchfield Shihan moved to a different state and appointed me to Chief Instructor/California Representative.
Nearly 20 yrs have past since that initial meeting and we are both still Kenpo practitioners and the very best of friends.
